HOLY

/ho-le/ adj.

divine, exalted, worthy of complete because of perfection or great righteousness

The Wholiness Project is MashUp's transformative initiative designed to create safe and inclusive spaces where LGBTQ+ individuals, especially people of color, can heal from religious trauma and embrace their true selves. For many, traditional faith teachings have fueled internalized stigma and shame, particularly surrounding sexuality and gender identity. The Wholiness Project aims to challenge those harmful narratives and help individuals redefine what it means to be "holy."

At its core, the Wholiness Project encourages participants to explore the intersections of their spirituality and queerness in a supportive community, free from judgment. Through a combination of educational dialogues, live events, and social media campaigns, we provide resources and tools to help people reconcile conflicts between their faith and identity, while fostering self-acceptance.

Spreading the Gospel

MashUp has partnered with visionary filmmaker Tariah Lane to produce a powerful series of mini-documentaries and social media reels that capture the personal journeys of queer individuals and affirming ministers as they reconcile their spirituality with their sexuality and gender identity.

These films highlight the deeply personal stories and theology of several queer individuals who have bravely navigated the often painful conflict between their religious upbringing and their true identities. Alongside these personal stories, the series also features affirming ministers who share inclusive theological perspectives and discuss the importance of creating spiritually safe and welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ people.
